About the OMCC

WHAT IS THE OMCC

  • The OMCC is the coordinating body of the Cursillo Movement worldwide, at the service of the dynamic unity of the Movement and the promotion of its evangelising activity according to its proper charism.
  • The OMCC is an organism of service and exercises its authority over the International Groups, the National Secretariats and the Diocesan Secretariats within the limits of what is foreseen in the present Statutes and what is prescribed by Canon Law.
  • The objectives of the OMCC are the following:
    •  To promote unity of understanding of the essentials of the Cursillo Movement worldwide;
    •  To preserve the OMCC in its fidelity to the Church and its Magisterium (cf. IFMCC 3, n. 345);
    •  Preserve the identity and unity of the OMCC in its essence, in fidelity to its charism, to the book of Fundamental Ideas of the OMCC and to the conclusions of World Encounters (cf. IFMCC 3, n. 345);
    •  To facilitate the mutual exchange of information, initiatives and continued reflections of the International Groups;
    •  To encourage the International Groups to fulfil their responsibilities to the National Secretariats;
    •  To promote unity and cooperation among the International Groups;
    •  To assist the International Groups in achieving their objectives;
    •  Promote reflection and study on the role and mission of the Cursillo Movement worldwide;
    •  To help introduce the Cursillo Movement in those countries where it has not yet been established.

  • The OMCC comprises a President, a Spiritual Advisor, a Vice President, a Secretary, a Treasurer and a representative from each of the existing International Groups.
  • Both by its purpose and its composition, the OMCC will work in close contact with the International Groups, listening through them to the feelings of the Cursillo Movement worldwide, attending to their needs, and accompanying them on the way forward.
  • To develop its function, the OMCC must take into account the pastoral plans of the Universal Church and the indications of the Holy See, always remaining faithful to the particular charism of the OMCC, expressed in the book Fundamental Ideas of the OMCC, as well as in the Decree of Canonical Recognition of the OMCC and in its own Statute.
  • The OMCC exists to serve the life of the OMCC, from discernment, co-responsibility and witness of life (cf. IFMCC 3 n. 335), living and promoting synodality, unity in diversity, friendship and enthusiasm for the mission. With these approaches:
  • Attends to the situations affecting the OMCC throughout the world, paying attention to the different existing realities and seeking the best way to move forward in unity.
  • Facilitates the intercommunication between the International Groups and the National Secretariats, facilitating the necessary channels and resources for it.
  • Periodically organises World Encounters and Ultreyas, to promote communication, joint reflection, closeness and friendship and the shared experience of faith and mission.
  • Disseminates all relevant information about the Cursillo Movement worldwide, publishing it on the OMCC website and reflecting it in periodic informative publications.
  • Through its president, officially represents the Cursillo Movement worldwide, particularly before the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life and before other Lay Movements and Associations.
